Fall Reset Update: Birthday Month Energy 🍂🎂

October, a.k.a. my month, is officially peeking around the corner, and I’m doing everything in my power to prepare for the most productive, self-reinventing fall yet. Think makeover montage, but with more dog hair, wallpaper paste, and half-drunk iced chai scattered around my room.

Home Reset: Paint, Paper, & Chaos

The bedroom is slowly starting to feel like less of a sad “teenage shrine” and more like an adult sanctuary. Paint colors have been chosen (after approximately 37 paint swatches taped to my wall like a crime investigation board), and the wallpaper is nearly done. Nearly. We’re not discussing the air bubbles, thank you very much.

But the real monster hiding in plain sight? The basement craft space. If my bedroom is a light spritz of chaos, the basement is a full-on tornado. I know it needs the revamp more, but every time I walk down there, I feel like I’m about to be featured on a DIY horror series: “When Sewing Rooms Attack.” We’ll save that emotional rollercoaster for another blog post.

Culinary Adventures (and Misadventures)

In between wrestling with wallpaper rolls, I’ve actually been cooking more. Yes, me. The girl who used to think “homemade” meant adding shredded cheese to ramen. It turns out when you’re picky and your garden starts winding down, you have to get creative with what’s left. It’s been equal parts empowering and… occasionally questionable. (Let’s just say I’ve learned cucumbers don’t belong everywhere.)

Pet Care: The New Calling 🐾

Here’s the unexpected twist in my fall reset: pet care feels like my second calling. I’ve been walking dogs for a local company, Waggin’ Wheels, 3–5 times a week, and it’s doing more for my mental health than any wellness app ever has. Something about starting your day with wagging tails instead of doomscrolling just hits different.

And then there’s Rover. My first booking? Two dogs and two cats. The owners warned me the cats would hide like secret agents on the run. Instead, they both ran up to me, let me scoop them up, and even accepted forehead kisses. When I sent the pics, the owners were stunned. Apparently, the cats “never” do that for anyone. So, yeah—cats love me. Add that to my resumé.

Closet Revival: Out With the Old

The closet purge was both liberating and mildly humiliating. I filled two trash bags of clothes to donate, which means someone out there is about to rock 2012 H&M like it’s fresh off the runway. Honestly? Good for them.

I’m also diving headfirst into making my own everyday clothes. The only fear? Accidentally looking like I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole of “How to Sew Normal Clothes” tutorials and came out looking… less than normal. Fingers crossed.

Garden Glow-Down 🌱

As the garden winds down, I’ve started saying my goodbyes to this year’s harvest. It’s bittersweet, but there’s something oddly cathartic about pulling out the dead and making space for new life. A fall garden overhaul is basically the earth’s version of a closet purge—rip it all out, clean it up, and prepare for what’s next.

Final Thoughts: The Reset in Motion

So, where am I at with this fall reset? Honestly, somewhere between thriving and crying over my wallpaper seams. But progress is progress. Between reorganizing my space, nurturing my creativity, caring for animals, and prepping my garden for next year, I’m finally starting to feel like I’m clawing my way out of “stuck” mode.

October isn’t just my birthday month—it’s my reset month. And if the cats love me and the dogs don’t bite, maybe I’m finally onto something.
