It's been too long since I've updated this blog and I'm sorry. I have just been busier than ever these past couple weeks but I documented my progress for this shoot.
I ended up doing two runs of this themed shoot, I did a test run on Thursday, and then did the final shoot on Monday.
I wanted to create a setup that was loosely inspired by the technophobic film known as the Matrix. So I began by creating a bunch of 1's and 0's
Once I traced the stencils, I painted the numbers a deep emerald green for the first layer and then for the second layer I mixed a reflective gold with the deep emerald to create a the perfect shade.
Once I finished painting the numbers for the binary code backdrop, tested out to see if I had made enough by making a makeup backdrop in the hallway. I measured my backdrop on the wall with painters tape and then spaced out the numbers accordingly. I ended up not having enough numbers for the effect that I wanted. My plan had envisioned lines of code hanging from the ceiling and on the backdrop some of them going all the way to the bottom.
Ended up making many many more numbers, I still wasn't pleased with how it was looking. I wanted to do the matrix but make it "gay" *limp wrists* So I went to Michaels and bought some glitter. One shade was a fine grind of a warm tone green and then a larger grind emerald and mixed the two to create a dark emerald. I enlisted the help of a friend and used one of the art studios in the 500 wing
After 5 hours of glueing glitter to both sides of well over 100 numbers. My next step was to tape the numbers to my backdrop and to hangup some numbers. Which took much longer than I thought. But I think it was quite worth it because the test shots came out so cool.
After editing the test shots I was pleased with what came out of it but I thought it was kinda too similar to my last shoot where I had a lot of skin showing. So for my final shoot I decided to wear my neon turtle neck with some Chelsea boots. I chose the Chelsea boots because I wanted to have the outfit be a little more on the masculine side since the touches of femininity where beining presented by the painted nails and eyeliner.
Here are some of my Favorites so far. I still need to edit them in photoshop to edit the hanging numbers so there isn't any holes.
