Snow, Sewing, and Self-Made Style: My Q1 Goals
As the snow starts to blanket the world outside and the kids head back to school, I’ve been reflecting on my goals for the first quarter of the year. After glancing at my bank statement (and experiencing a moment of existential dread over how much I’ve spent on fashion), I decided it’s time to make a change. So, I’m taking matters—and fabric—into my own hands. From now on, it’s DIY couture, baby.
Fresh off completing my first performance collection, “Goddesses”—a tribute to bold, dramatic designs—it’s time for a new challenge. Introducing “Jamie 4.0”, my inaugural ready-to-wear collection. The concept? Androgynous vibes with a feminine flair. It’s practical, versatile, and uniquely me.
Creating for a Muse (and Myself)
The collection is already taking shape with a couple of key pieces designed for my muse in San Jose, CA. My aim is to craft two complete looks that exude contrasting energies but still feel like they belong at the same fabulous event.
The first look? A breezy beach-inspired two-piece set. Picture this: a cowl-neck tie blouse paired with elastic wide-leg pants, all in a stunning green leaf-patterned silk. It’s light, luxe, and multifunctional—perfect for lounging while doing makeup, throwing over a swimsuit for a seaside stroll, or even grabbing a latte from a cute café.
Naturally, every piece in this collection gets a test run as a mock-up—made for me. Why? Because my muse and I share similar measurements, and honestly, I love being my own fit model. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a little fashion preview for themselves?
The Journey Ahead
This project is more than just sewing—it’s about self-expression and growth. With Jamie 4.0, I’m exploring what it means to create pieces that blend artistry with wearability. And while the journey will undoubtedly include a few tangled threads and late-night sewing sessions, I’m looking forward to every step.
I’ll be documenting my progress here, sharing updates, lessons learned, and maybe even a few behind-the-scenes snaps of my creative chaos. Oh, and if you stick around long enough, I might just spill the beans on my secret Brussels sprout recipe—it’s legendary, I promise.
Here’s to new goals, bold designs, and making 2025 the year of handmade style. Stay tuned!
